Best online games – World of Warcraft

The World of Warcraft series is among the most popular online games of all time

Online games are a genre that connects players via the internet to a single game server. There are many types of online games; some focus on the competitive aspect (Counter Strike, League of Legends), while others offer full-fledged stories and interesting experiences that can be enjoyed in a group. Therefore, it was very difficult to choose just five games for our list. We primarily based our choices on the duration of active community engagement and current relevance. Although this year brought new online game titles, we bet on the classic old gold, which is still being maintained by its developers. Notably, we deliberately avoided competitive titles known for their significant esports presence.

Most popular esports games

World of Warcraft

The king among MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) games has been sitting on its throne for many years. World of Warcraft is undeniably the most played online role-playing game, and its developer Blizzard continues to maintain it. New expansions are regularly released, expanding the already impressively large world, keeping players in constant anticipation. You can choose from a variety of races and classes, and it is up to you which direction your hero will take. Prepare for long hours spent fighting and completing quests.

Minecraft

Digging, digging, digging… The game Minecraft is a mining and building simulator in a blocky world where survival against hordes of enemies, which mostly come out at night, is the goal. This survival sandbox title has won over the gaming community with its playful open world, where there are no limits. Want to build a castle? No problem! Want a large field and a farm full of animals? No problem! Or do you just want to defeat the final dragon?

Fortnite

At the beginning of the article, we mentioned that we wouldn’t focus on games with a competitive aspect. Fortnite is a partial exception because it is an online game where you compete with other players and fight on a vast map for survival (the last survivor wins). However, this popular title doesn’t have as widespread an esports scene as games developed for that purpose. Nevertheless, it is still a fun shooter that continually receives new updates and attracts more players.

Diablo IV

Unlike the online games mentioned above, known for their playful and colorful graphics, Diablo IV is dark. The entire game world, story, and graphics are cloaked in gloom. The goal is to defeat endless hordes of diabolical enemies, and you can choose one of several classes, which you can shape as you wish using the skill tree. The locations you need to clear of hellspawn are varied, and their difficulty increases with each level.

Path of Exile

The Diablo series gave birth to a new genre that has carried over to online games. So-called Diablo-like games retain the basic game concept but each approaches it differently. Path of Exile is currently the only significant competitor to Diablo and serves as a suitable alternative. The skill tree is vast, and almost no hero is the same. Although it is an online game where you can meet other players, most PoE players prefer solo runs and clearing locations of various monsters.
