You choose one of the nations (Romans, Gauls, and Germans) and start building your village and army from scratch (construction and training take quite a lot of real-time). Over time, you will grow stronger, and for your survival, it is necessary to join other players in an alliance because the player alliance that builds the world wonder first wins. Player versus player combat is therefore inevitable. The game server is then reset, and the game starts anew. Even today, you can still find many Czech players in the game.
Whether Forge of Empires became so popular thanks to its massive marketing campaign, we can only guess, but it is undeniably a high-quality building strategy game. Your goal as a chief is to guide your nation through all possible eras into the distant future. Slowly you will conquer world continents, research period technologies, and develop your city.
